Hi,
This is my first time in here. We have four dogs.
Our problem child is the Westy. We have bathed him in several recommended shampoos and rinses to rid him of matting. We have brushes and combs. He goes out side and whammo! Matted to the hilt.
Nothing seems to work. Hheeellllppppp! Any suggestions? This poor baby is on the verge of getting a buzz cut. So if anyone out there has a clue, please share.
Thanks,
JodyRay

Talk to a show groomer. They tie back hair on long haired toy breeds so they don't knot.

Although it sounds like it would be less work & easier on both you & the dog if he did get a hair cut. Pride goeth before a fall.

Bathing actually increases the matting, it makes the fur cling together, unless you thoroughly brushed him at the time of blowdrying it would have got worse. All you can do is take him to a groomer, get an allover clip, and if the matting is that bad that it is very close to the skin, expect it to be short. Thereafter, don't bathe as often, especially when they are getting a winter coat, and after bathing, get a blow dryer on low setting, and brush as you dry.
