Cosequin is a joint supplement- not a medication. However I have found that glycoflex works better on my dogs than the cosequin did. I used the glycoflex 3.

Cosequin is a supplement- it is made of Glucosamine and Chondroitin, two of the building blocks for joint health. It is considered a "nutracutical" and causes little hazard for the liver and kidneys. You can accidently feed your dog the whole container, and do no harm.

Rimadyl is a NSAID. (Non steroidal Anti-inflamitory) and is made of Carprofen. It can cause insult to the liver and kidneys, and you must pay special attention to the dosage. Overdosing Rimadyl can cause some serious health problems, even death. I fyou accidently feed your dog this whole container, you need a trip to the ER vet and to start praying.

So, if your dog is allergic to Rimadyl- you should be able to safely try Cosequin. They have no same active ingredients, and are VERY different in make up.
