we're having our kitchen redone and the whole process is starting to upset Faith's tummy. it started a bit when we packed up the kitchen and moved it all into the living room, but it really hit yesterday.
she spent the day at grandma's and when i got her home she was quite unsettled by all the plastic sheeting around the living room and dining room and didn't like how everything was gone in the kitchen. right now it's only loose stools and her appetite is off, so it's not real serious, but i can tell she's just not quite right. is there anything i can give her (i've already got Pepto ready) to help settle her tummy a bit? |

Slippery Elm! Although, you might have to search for it in your area. It's something that is a must have in my doggy medicine cabinet. It's the best loose stool/upset tummy/ diarrhea remedy I have yet to try. And the best part is you're not pumping your dog full of chemicals.

I would avoid Pepto.. it's not ideal for dogs because the subsalicylate (aka Aspirin) can be bad for dogs.
If you want an OTC medication -- Famotidine (aka Pepcid AC) will help with upset stomach. I would give about 10-20 mg to her. You can give it twice daily. Otherwise -- rice, pumpkin, Slippery Elm, and the like would help too. |

i should have added at the beginning - adding pumpkin is a great idea, but we currently don't have a working kitchen. so, all our spoons are packed up and we have limited use of the fridge, etc.
that's interesting about the Pepto - we've used it in the past based on advice from my vet. and, her tummy troubles started before the visit to grandma, so i don't think i can blame her

Pepto isn't horrible for dogs.. just as aspirin isn't. But they aren't ideal either.
