Unhappy Bad vet?

I took my foxie to have his annual vaccination and check-up today at his usual vet clinic. The lady must have been fairly new as we hadn't seen her before. I mentioned to her my dog had weepy eyes recently so she had a look and said something about discharge and she would give us some ointment for his eyes. Anyway she gave him his vaccination, some ointment, we took his medication and went home. The impression i got from her was that she was very vague and didn't seem certain with what she was doing. I mentioned this to my mother who also agreed. Once we were home we got a phone call from the vet saying she had given us the wrong medication. The one she gave us (and put in my dog's eyes!) wasn't even meant to be put in the eyes

Talk about a mess up! We have to go pick up his actual eye creme in the morning but it got me thinking, do i actually want to go back to that clinic after that?

There would be no way that i would go back. I know that we are all humans but when it comes to putting something in a dog's eye that don't go in there. Well i think it it pretty bad!!! I just hope that she didn't do anything to your dog's eye that might cause it to go blind.
Did you ask her if it might cause prolbems later on? I sure hope that your fur baby will be ok.

Did she apologized for the mistake?, if not i'd go look elsewhere if you don't trust the vet or the vet assistance.

I would first verify if it was the ointment itself that was wrongly prescribed or if it was an error in dispensation.

In other words did she write down the right ointment and you were given the wrong tube, or did she write down the wrong ointment to start with?
Look at your receipt and see exactly which one you were charged for.
Did she hand you the tube directly or did a tech gather the meds?

Either way it is sloppy, but I'd be curious as to where the error originated.

She did apologize but all confidence in them has been lost. The eyes are so delicate she should know better than to be putting things in that aren't supposed to be there. His eyes were a little red before but now they are more red

It wasn't me who answered the phone but i am fairly certain he will be 100% fine. Am very disappointed with them though.

Poor little darling

EDIT: She went back to get the ointment for his eyes which was the wrong kind of medication, put it on and then gave us the tube. It's written on the receipt what we got given also.

OMGosh Your are kidding?? No way would I see this vet again! At the least, she actually called you. I'm all for those that are new and just learning but I don't want to put my dogs' health in their hands just yet.

I would definitely find a new vet! I would not be able to trust her with my dog. That is crazy

I would not only find a new vet, I would send the bill for treatment on your dog's eyes to the OLD one.

That's just plain scary! Hope your dog is ok, and that the eyes feel better.

I changed vets after seeing one for the first time with Sheena just because he thought she had to be manhandled to have blood drawn, had no clue of the white shepherd history and told me she would grow up and turn on children because they were bred to chase down slaves. HUH. Sorry. Not going back. Then the next vet I found was fantastic. Been with her for 4 years and I never want to have another vet if I can help it. If I was you I would get a new vet.
