Exclamation Peeing...?-Weird Behavior

Well.....I have honestly never had a dog do this and I have had A LOT of dogs lol....I don't have the slightest bit of idea WHY the pup would be doing this ...

My 3 1/2 month old BC pup is housebroke. However....sometimes she pees on the basement floor (no carpet, just cement).......she proceeds to lick it up.....I can't imagine what would cause this behavior. I almost think she's trying to "get rid of the evidence" b/c she knows she's gonna get in trouble.

!!!*!!!!*?????
Any suggestions or ideas??

My first thought would be to check the concrete in the basement. Maybe high salt content or something. I am assuming that she isn't "punished" for peeing so there wouldn't be a need to react in this manner.

I would put up a baby gate to keep her away from it if you can. That way she's not reinforcing the undesireable behavior.

She's punished for peeing alright....if I can catch her in the act.....I just don't get the licking it up part ...weird.

I'm of the belief that dogs want to please us so praise is a faster training technique. If you can keep her off the concrete til she's reliable in housebreaking, that will hopefully end the behavior.

I would also keep an eye for signs of urinary infection as a cause. Blood in the urine because of the infection might be an attractor.

I must say that is weird. First off, i suggest Natures Mircles. You said she pees on the basement floor. Im assuming shes done this more then once? If so, id say scent is playing a big part. So you want to stop it all together. As for the licking, im baffled myself Just work on housebreaking to avoid accidents all together. Im really doubtful that a 3 1/2 month old is fully proofed.
