Wood Stain in Fur

I was using wood stain to do the outside door step today and thought that I'd managed to keep Poppy away from it. Well apparently not, she has managed to get some on her face, ear and top of her paw. I have tried to get it off with some diluted dog shampoo but it's not getting it all off. I have tried "pulling" it out and that's not working either. I am worried that it might harm her or something.

Does anybody know if it's harmful and what I could use to get it out of her fur... at the moment it looks like blood so people will think she's been in a fight or something!

if its only a little it will probably be ok. It will come off eventually. You could try greasing it out with butter, that sometimes works.

Bailey gets spray paint in her fur when she goes to work with Hubby sometimes. Never hurts her, and she gets to have blue spots for a few days.

He even scrubbed the poor dog with an Indian Paintbrush (plant) one day, and she turned pink.

LMAO - sorry Lessica, that's so funny... I can't imagine Bailey being pink - she's such a tom boy!

I will try the butter that lou suggested, I'm just a bit worried because hubby is back tomorrow and if he gets home before I do he'll probably freak out and think that she's been bleeding everywhere... they'll be frantic phone calls etc etc now whose the worry wart???

Max managed once to position the entire length of his body against a freshly painted floorboard. He ended up with a thick white stripe on his back from head to tail. I tried to wash it out but eventually gave up and decided let nature (and shedding) take its course. The stripe made for a very nice conversation starter while being on walks and in the park, though. It was gone after a month.

Reminds me of that old Loony Tunes episode with Pepe le Pew and the kitty that got the white stripe down the back, and everybody thought she was a skunk... Remember?

I'm sure I've got the picture saved on my other computer. But we're going home tomorrow, so I'll see if I can't post it in the next few days. She's also completely covered in mud, so as not to distract from her toughness or make her look too prissy.
