Everyone meet Shelby!

Our sweet Shelby came last night at about 5:30. She was very afraid for the first few minutes so I crated all of the dogs and just allowed her to roam around with her mama still here. She settled some so I did the required paperwork for her owner and we sat and talked for a while so Shelby could adjust to my home. She was one year old on April 12th. Weighs about 15 pounds and is just the sweetest little girl.

Then the fun started..... I knew she had been in the car for about an hour to be transported to my home so I took her outside to potty on a 6 ft drag leash. Well, everyone else wanted to go out too so here we go all six dogs out to potty in the back yard. Shelby did very well for the first few minutes then she went over to the pool pad. I don't know exactly what happened and I was standing about 3 feet away from her. She looked down at the water in the pool and proceeded to jump right in. Then she panicked.. Started trying to get out the same way she got in over the side. They can't pull themselves up on the side of the pool. So I kicked off my sandals and went to the steps trying to get her to come to me. No dice... She was too panicked so into the pool I went fully clothed. As soon as I entered the water she stopped flailing her legs and allowed me to show her where the steps were so she could get out on her own... So now she's soaked and I'm soaked to the waist... Whew if I had had the slightest idea that she would have jumped in the pool I would have held on to the leash. Oh well, everything is fine now and she is giving the pool lots of respect this morning.

So here's Shelby

Her former mama had allergies to her dander. She thought she would be able to weather it but found that she is also sensitive to a lot of the allergy meds. When she was here she had swolen eyes and could hardly talk due to poor little Shelby...Sad sad story but we already are working on a forever home for her...

She is so pretty. What were the other dogs doing when she jumped in the pool? Good luck, but I don't think you will need it!
