Hi I am new and would like any tips you all could give me. I have a golden retr/lab puppy 3 months old. I also have 3 kids the puppy does fine with the 4 year old and the 1 year old but the 3 year old and her just hit it off wrong. The puppy likes to play and bite his armes and tug on them as if it was tug of war. I have tried firm no and my son is so upset he cant or wont say it he just stands there pulling his arm and crying. I know the puppy is just playing but how do I stop this? Any help would be great.

At the current age of your dog he dosn't know right from wrong, I suggest basic obedience training by yourself or an experienced trainer. Your puppy needs to know how to react to humans and other objects, don't leave it until the last moment when he is an adult, it will be harder to teach him then.

I've always heard that when a puppy bites you're supposed to make a high-pitched yelping noise because that is what their brothers and sisters do when they are playing and the biting gets too rough. Whenever I did that with my puppy she would always stop biting immediately and look at me in an alarmed way, realizing that she hurt me.

Short sweet, and simple,
Hit him with a switch, ie. flexible stick that will sting like a thousand bee stings, and do it like you mean it.
No silly magazines, or wooden spoons, no love taps

Communicate it clearly, and with force, just plain make him know you mean business. if he does not stop, you undercorrected, and shame on you for it, do it right the next time
Do not praise when he quits, just whack, and move on with what you are doing.

my question is what is your 3 yr old doing the other children are not and try to get the child to stop doing it for a puppy that old its about games maybe running waving hands around a loud voice or maybe his is higher then your other kids just try to track it down
its very hard to have a 3 year old be a tree and i am not sure a yelp or the tree thing would be a good thing for a three year old to try to do
i think my guess would be you are going to have to take control of this i would have a leash on him when the kids are around him so you can get control real quick
i would try either distracting him with another object to taking a hold of the leash pulling him away saying no and crating him for like 20 mins till he calms down so he gets the idea he can not come out and play and use this kid as a tug toy
but honestly after writing all this i maybe a trainer would be a good idea everything goes up a notch when you are dealing with children i dont want either of them being hurt

It's normal for a pup to do that as they need to learn their bite. They don't know it hurts. What worked for us is making a screeching loud OUCH. Stop playing immediatly after and walk away, completly ignorning the pup. Puppies play these games with their litter mates and don't realize they are biting too hard until one of them yelps, so yelp and he will get the point.

ok
the reason why i would not have a 3 year old do this is depending on how playful the puppy is children that young do not understand why they are doing it its all in the tone this is not for a child to do period in my book its the adult who must discipline this pup not the child jtp is right in the fact someone needs to make it clear to the pup this will not be tolerated though i dont condone hitting jtp is right
