OK My girl, Sharon, here is acting just like she did last time we attempted breeding. She ended up having the classic pregnancy...that turned out to be a false pregnancy! Even the vet was in awe. It is going to be a long 28 days till we can have the blood test. How reliable is the test? I guess I am just biding my time.....and with every behavior I think "Oh great she did this last time"
Anyone else have the heartbreak of false pregnancy. So sad telling all the families on our puppy list. But they all stuck it out and are anxiously waiting for news with this try!

Do you know what blood test you are referring to? Usually in order to get the right stage of her cycle, you'll do a vaginal cytology. It sounds like you've bred before, so you and your Vet know what the appropriate time to breed is. False pregnancies are common, how old is your dog?
Are you worried that your dog isn't able to reproduce? How many times have you had false pregnancies?

Sorry for all the questions, I'm just trying to get a better idea of the situation before I chime in with what I know.

The blood test will be the canine pregnancy test.
We tried to breed her at 18months. (Heat before this one)
The vet said there is nothing wrong, it's common.
I had read never to breed before 2 years of age. Then
the vet said due to her developement physically and mentally,
there was no reason not to try at 18 months.
We bred on days 10 and 12, when she was in standing heat.
Poor girl, I actually bought her a puppy. Once she had the
new puppy she was fine. I am patient but I feel bad
for the families waiting I doubt there would be anoything wrong with
my dogs, since they have been thoroughly tested.
But who knows LOL I've never bred dogs before....

They were my babies just as my dogs are now,
although the dogs fit in the house better

The false pregnancy really taught me, I never knew how 'real' it would seem.

i know just how you feel my female right now is showing all the signs of pregnancy but i wont be able to know for about 2 more weeks all you can do is pray..and never offer your puppies till you know for sure she is pregnant!

Oh I actually made sure all my pups would have homes before I agreed to breed.
It seemed like everyone wanted us to breed, but I didn't want to add to unwanted babies. (OK that would mean I kept them because I love dogs and would have them all if I could lol) It's funny, when I asked if they were serious about wanting a pup many offered to place a deposit. That's where I draw the line, I can't take a deposit for puppies that might not be there..... but we have screened everyone and there is no question that when and IF we have puppies they all have great homes. Funny, one eager guy is my son's asthma specialist! I said "aren't you suposed to be against dogs?" He asid "Look at the faces, who could resist?" Plus they are non shed. These are the only dogs that my son, and my frirends children did not have an asthmatic reaction to..... and we love them sooooooooo much!! I've read your posts and can't wait to find out about your little chi!

yea im ******** out over here waiting to see whats going to happen well we figure her due date if there is one will april soo god i hope she is im sooooo excited...lets hope sharon is too...it will be soooo exciting we will have litters around the same time!

The age seems okay.. I was thinking the dog sounded older, and that was why she was throwing a false pregnancy. Just try, try again! It's great you are ensuring good homes! Keep in good communication with your vet! If your dog does it again I would reconsider breeding her and getting her spayed.. just like in humans, some are made to reproduce and some aren't! My wife and I have not had 1 blood test give the wrong results. Every single time it has proved to be acurate. I would fully trust a blood test, ours usually are done around 26 - 28 days.
