puppy excessive urination help pls

we have a puppy. she is a basset beagel mix. we got her from a shelter. 5-7 months old. our biggest problem has been excessive urination. i have left here in a create for 20 minutes and she will pee a lot. i am talking 1/4 inch of pee on the floor of the crate.
*
tonight she was sleeping on my wife's lap and peed. i am not talking about a little pee. my wife's pants below the knees were completely wet.
after that she has peed on the floor 5 or 6 times, at great volume. we have also taken her out after every time and she has peed each time.
*
we are at the end of our rope. we have paid for close to 500 in vet bills for tests and med's. no help. she did have a urinaty track infection. she has been on meds for 1 and a half weeks.
*
pls we really love our dog and are want keep her, but even we have our limits. pls help if you have had the same issue.

What goes in must come out. If she is still peeing in her sleep either the infection is still there or she may have an abnormality in her bladder. Is her pee light colored most of the time (except first thing in am) and nearly odorless or is it dark and quite smelly? Ariel (my sweety) and a nite where she peed uncontrollably right after her spay because of pain.

You can start limiting her water after 7 pm (make sure you give fresh water in am).

it is like water when she is peeing this much. we do limit her water after 7. she does not pee at night just during the day, she will wake us up to tell us that she needs to go. and when she is like this it is uncontrolable. out of no where she just starts peeing.

A lot of that might be a side effect of the infection and her history. She's never learned to control the urges. Go back to housebreaking basics, at least for 1 month, and see if that helps. Make sure you wake her when she starts to tinkle by saying Hey Or No.. she must learn to feel the need. Have faith - she'll learn if might just take a little longer.

I hope so. we have had her for about 3 months and she has never been house croken. crate training does not work. she is a "dirty puppy" and will pee in her crate. we are working on breaking that habit now.

If she was kept in a kennel before you got her - crate training will not work. {check out thread To crate or not to crate in training forum}

Better yet would be to use praise and put her is a small room like a kitchen. She's never known options about keeping clean. I can speak from my own bladder infection that the muscles remain weaker for some time. In other words - DON'T MAKE ME LAUGH. Hee Hee.

It could also be behavioral. Maybe some of the times she gets excited/nervous. I would definitely finish up the antibiotics, and limit her water intake. She might have urinary incontinence, and may have a muscle spasm issue. Maybe she cannot control her bladder spasms and releases the fluids. These are just some thoughts. Use lots of praise and good reinforcement when she goes outside, and make it clear that inside is NOT okay. Keep us updated with the progress.

Update, Not Any Better.

She is not getting any better. pills are done. we will take her out and will wait for 15 min. as soon as she gets in the house she will pee. last night she peed in the house 6 times in about 2.5 hours.
*
what are some ways to make it clear that inside is not ok?
*
by the way this is dog number two so i have been thru this before.

Well, first of all, don't let her out of your sight for even a second. Tie her to your belt loop by a lead, or just watch.

How long have you had her now? Have you picked up on any of her body language? Just be right on top of her. As soon as you see a squat, say "NO", pick her right up, head right outside. Have a very keen eye, qith quick reflexes and consistency. I really can't think of much else to help.

Is the crate properly barracaded?
