spayed dog in heat?
My 1 1/2 year old yorkshire terrrier was spayed about a year ago, but she's acting like she's in heat. She's teasing my male (neutered) dog by prancing around him like a rabbit trying to get his attention. He licks her but he doesn't mount her. Also she's also licking herself a lot, and she looks swollen down there. What is the cause of this?

Is she bleeding? This doesn't happen often but it is possible for a spayed dog to go into heat if the vet missed some of the ovarian tissue. I know this first had becuase my Mastiff had to be spayed twice for that very reason.

I would speak to your vet about it. She might have a slight infection which is making her uncomfortable. The vet might ask you to record dates this time and see if she acts the same way again in 6 months. A call certainly wouldn't hurt at this point.
