Adolescence

Today Boo got neutered. He will be 6 mo/old tomorrow and headed towards adolescence. I wanted to get feedback from everybody as to what sort of things to expect/change/do differently when it comes to his health, diet, and training.

I also hear adolescence brings with it some personality and behavior changes - what have you experienced with your dogs? What works and what doesn't?

It's kind of a large topic, but bear with me..this will all be new to me!

i know one thing is that some dogs tend to "forget" their training so make sure you stay on top of that

Once Kirby got into 8 months and beyond, he came out of his somewhat meeker puppy shell and busted into the world with a bang, and introduced himself as the strongest dog in the world with all his wheels turning. LOL He'll probably start challenging his position more and more, and instead of "Okay" the answer will be "Why?"

I was forced to be creative with untraining his self-trained "tricks."

For Boo, his puppy coat will probably change sometime between 6 and 12 months. It will probably be a very subtle change, since the adult coat and the puppy coat of a Coton are very slightly different. But he'll lose most to all of his colour, and if you don't comb him through every day, you'll have a million tiny annoying little mats.

Here he is with his cone.

And to give him a little relief from the cone we put a t-shirt on him backwards. Baggy so it could still breath and not rub on his stitches but covering the areas so he couldn't lick.
