dog coughing

I've taken my new SPCA dog to the vet for a cough and she has heart worms but we can't get her well enough to get treated. The vet has put her on all kinds of antibiotics. While searching the internet I found this NZYMESŪ Ox-E-Drops, that sounds too good to be true. Supposedly you just put somes in their food. Has anyone tried it?

I haven't tried it. What are the antibiotics for? Is the dog exercising too much to be coughing? Sometimes if you can't keep the weight on the dog due to heartworms then maybe you should start the heartworm treatment. Hopefully, your vet does it in 3 separate treatments because then it is smaller doses. Your dog will have a 50/50 chance of pulling through the treatments. You have to make sure the dog isn't very active at all after treatments and during. While the worms are dying and the dog gets active it could cause the dead worms to move in the body and clog somewhere and kill her. Good luck! Heartworm treatments are tough.

Yes, I have used Ox E Drops many times but not necessarily for Heartworms but for Kennel cough & other things like cuts. I suggest emailing Linda on the Nzymes website and get her opinion about what to use.

thanks for the advice

I know it won't help with the heart worms but she has developed this cough and they think it's a respiratory infection now. They won't treat the heart worms until she's better but she keeps getting worse so they (the vets) give her more antibiotics. I saw the drops and wondered if they worked. Are they available at any major chain stores like Walgreens, I don't want to wait for the mail, even if it's over night.
