Runny eyes?

Uma's eyes are always very moist but the last day or so they are really starting to run. No discharge at all. Just water. I did change their food over to Canidae ALS instead of platinum. I don;t know if this could be it or because she and Orson go at it a good portion of the day biting each other in the head and licking each others ears. Could it be from Orson's saliva? I'm also thinking that since they smell each others poop and then Orson bites her in the head...could it be fron that? .....Nope...never saw Orson eat poop, but just smell it.

Should I just wash the eyes with warm water?

Hard to say Fair. Maybe others have some suggestions. I would certainly be washing her eyes out with tepid water.

That's all I have been doing Emma. This time of years is great for allergies. I know with Vanilla her eyes were running so bad that the vet to me to give her a half of a Benadryl. It zonked her out for well over a day but no runny eyes, but I refuse to knock a dog out because of eye leakage.

Holly's bad eye runs when it is irritated, and it gets irritated much easier than the normal eye. It usually runs clear. She has some sort of environmental allergy. It's usually worse when she spends more time out of the house. I wouldn't worry too much unless it is bothering her a lot.

You're right moo. Uma's eye is runny clear (actually it is not running at all right now.) It could have been an irritation or it could be some form of an allergy. It didn't bother her at all...it just bothered me because her eue was running wet.

Try just a plain saline flush (yuppers I say that realizing the rodeo roping it entails ... do get pictures please ) - if it's just an irritation should clear up straight away. If ti's allergen you'll have more runnies from the eye in a short time. Both Wu and I are on our Benadryl cap phase right now. Runny eyes and nose. Poor Wu...but it does mellow her out LOL

The eyes are not red at all Daux. I've done the Benadryl thing and the way that most of my dogs metabolisms are.....it takes a long time to work and when it does they are zonked right out. Hmmmm on second thought!

Fair...just a thought. Are the lower lids turned inward? So that the lashes are irritating the eyes. It may well just be allergies but I just had this thought.

LOL Zonked out can be good - though Hart is Heartly tired of both Wu and I zonking out - we're no fun on Benadryl. Her eyes don't get red either, just weepy, but her nose runs too...just like her mum.

Emmagirl brings up a good question - inverted eyelash?
