Puppy Mill Rescue

This story broke over the weekend. This is the Humane Society in my county, I am so glad they saved these puppies. It has been all over the news so let's hope we get a good response.

Dogs rescued from puppy mill arrive in South Florida

DANIA BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) -- Employees from the Humane Society of Broward County returned to South Florida Monday after saving dogs from harsh living conditions in Tennessee.

Several puppies were found living in filthy conditions at a suspected puppy mill near Nashville, Tennessee after the business was shut down following an undercover investigation.

A team of four HSBC staff arrived at the puppy mill, known as Pine Bluff Kennels, to help with the rescue. "It is a puppy mill, a breeding factory where dogs are bred over and over again simply to supply pet stores and the Internet," said Cherie Wachter, Director of Marketing for the HSBC.

The animals were stuffed into small cages, sitting in piles of fecal matter and sometimes shared their limited living space with puppies that had died.

Rescuers took nearly 700 dogs from a farm before they distributed them to different shelters around the country.

The HSBC team returned early Monday morning with about 130 rescued dogs. Those dogs will be available for adoption as early as Tuesday.

700 dogs!
I'm so glad they're out of there.
But I hope there is a very VERY warm place in **** for each and every individual who had a hand in their suffering.

I hate stories like this. What are people thinking. Though we do think Zoe came from a puppy mill or just left out in the back yard tied up all the time. She has all the signs. But she is doing great now and loving us to death as we are her.

Wow! Will you be rescuing, alimel? I'm SO GLAD that so many were rescued...but it's sad that they had to live like that for any amount of time.

No, I am not able to rescue right now, but it sounds like they are going to do well with adoptions this week, there have been so many people calling the Humane Society to inquire about the dogs, they have had a hard time keeping up with the phone calls

I heard over 300 people completed applications for adoption yesterday! They said there were lines outside the Humane Society all day.
