Nose Infection?

So over the past couple of weeks, Loki has developed..something on his nose. It looks like it could be a fungus, but it almost looks like it eating away at his nose
It doesn't seem to bother him unless I try to scrub it with betadine scrub; and then he turns all growly on me. We've only been scrubbing it for a few days, but if it doesn't get better in a couple of days, we're going to take him to the vet.

We thought it might be his food bowl (it's plastic...came with metal dishes but I don't know what happened to them) so we cleaned that real good and are keeping it clean.
He's also taking a liking to eating frogs, which btw is disgusting!

Any idea what it may be? (sorry no pictures right now)

I would switch back to medal bowls immediately. If you do not have any in the house use a glass bowl until you can get to the store. What about a neosporen or bacitricn on his nose. I know there is a good chance of him licking it off but it is worth a try. If not, then I agree with you to consult your vet.

If he is in the sun a lot that can affect his nose, too. A moisturing sunscreen can help- I use lip balm
But yes- no matter how well you wash plastic you cannot get it clean enough. It is a porous material and bacteria really get dug into it. Metal, glass, or ceramic.
