AHHH whipworms

I just took my little charlie to get tested for worms and it came back that she has whipworms. I'm really freaked out. They gave me a dewormer and a preventative for after that. I tried to find information on whipworms but it's scarce. Is it common for dogs to die of whipworm? Should I be really concerned? She hasn't shown any of the symptoms that I came across online. I'm only really freaked out because I only could find two personal cases of whipworms online. One of the dogs died because the whipworms made the dog anemic and get weak and die. The other dog died from the treatment. My vet said it can be serious, but it's hard to tell how bad the infestation is. Can anyone else shed some light on this?

I've never had a pet with whipworms but here is a site I find pretty informative on all kinds of parasites.

Treat, put them on sentinel, or interceptor, whichever takes care of Whip worms, and keep them on it.
They are no big deal, but they stay in the soil of your yard for years, so keep your dogs on the monthly heartworm pill that covers whips too.

Whips are hard to diagnose, because they rarely show up.
But if they show up, then you know to treat for them.

Nothing to freak out about, your dogs will be fine
