Potty trained too well?

Ok-Maia has been the easiest dog ever to potty train from when she was a puppy until now. On the schedule she (and I) was on, I'd put her out when I got up for work and she'd pee. I'd feed her, then put her out and she'd poop. She was in her crate till I got home from work, around 4:30. I'd put her out, she'd pee and poop. Then have her dinner. Then out before bed. Well, since I lost my job, and haven't been able to find another, she's with me all day. But each time I put her out, or we both go out, she pees and poops. But it seems like she seems to think that each time I put her out, she's supposed do this, and I think she's trying to make herself poop. Does that make sense to anyone? I even had the vet check her for parasites that might make her have to go more that usual, and he said she was fine. She isn't eating more than usual. So do you think that she thinks that each time she goes out, I expect her to pee and poo? I know this sounds really strange, but then, Maia is a strange pup anyway. Sorry to ramble, but I've never had a dog do this before. Thanks! Kathy

Sounds like every time you take her out she thinks she has to do her business. When you take her out...go for a run and play time. Keep up your regular schedule in her pottying. Does she know the command 'go potty'? This would lessen her confusion.

I agree, I guess trying to make other times ya'll go out lots of fun and energetic may help get the message across to her that she doesn't have to do her business every time.

Maybe bring a ball out with you when it's play time and not specifically potty time? That way she could tell the difference?

I agree with Emma, you need to put pooping/peeing on cue.

I'm out with my dogs all the time and when we first head out, I tell them go pee and poo in the designated area. If they go, they go, and if I see them wandering around looking upset/sad (they really do look sad) I know they don't have to go. So I "release" them and we go play.
