Had to take Uma to the vet

Remember those watery eyes she had? By the other night the eyes were so inflammed and swollen it was pathetic. The vet did a corneal stain to make sure that there were not scratches, tears, or ulcers in her yes. All came back negative. They gave her a shot of antibiotics, Pednisone, amoxicillon, ointment to put in her eyes and said that she had allergies. If she is not better within a week I have to take her back in again. The poor girl is miserable and is sneezing like wild fire. The vet is not opened again until Monday due to the holiday. I don't know if Pednisone will help her sneezing or not.

Indirectly the Prednisone might help the sneezing if the cause is an allergy because it will reduce the inflammation.
You could phone an on call vet and get a Benadryl dosage for her....that would likely help with the sneezing.

We often use benadryl for allergy dogs. I get allergy eye/sneezing dogs here this time of year every year. The eyes seem to be the tell tale.
Poor itchy, watery, gooy eyed Uma ~ big, big hugs and kisses for my big baby girl!

Sorry Uma has allergies, but glad you now know what is causing her itchy watery eyes. I would still suggest checking with the vet on the homeopathic drops. They really do soothe the eyes. I do hope she starts to feel better soon. Those allergies can really make you fel yucky.

I put her on benadyl two days before I went to the vet. Benadyl did nothing for her eyes and for her sneezing. All it did was make her sleepy. She was not supposed to start the prednisone until today but DH got me up last night and said that Uma was sneezing so badly that it kept him up...so I started the prednisone a few hours early. She has to take it three times a day for 3 days, then twice a day for a couple a days and then weaned down to one pill a day for three days. The poor dog is miserable and so are we.

Fair did this start just after the food swap? If so maybe she is having problems with the new food even though it's in the same brand. If the meds don't help a lot, maybe you could pull her off of the new food for a week or so and feed her in a different place then the other kids. I know you free feed, but maybe for a week you could do timed feedings to see if the kibble is her problem.

Good luck big U, I feel for you.
