If read my "puppy training II" post - you will see your situation is exactly like mine... ready some of the things other people told me and maybe something there will help you... I am still working through this and my puppy turns 6 months old next week!

I'm just going to give a brief explination.
When you're crate training, you have to either be in a position to where you can stop her from going or she needs to be in the crate. Do not play with her outside. If she starts playing, take her inside and put her back in her crate. Only allow her out in the house immediatly after she has gone outside. If you take her out and she doesn't go, put her in her crate. Half an hour later, take her back out. Continue to repeat the process. When she does go outside, let her play around in the house for a bit. Closely supervised. Also, do not use the pads. If she starts using them, you will be teaching her that it is alright to go in the house. That's the last thing you want. |

I have a 11 week old puppy that I have had for the last month. I have her crate trained and she does well with that but she doesn't seem to want to use the bathroom outside. She will play around and then once you bring her back inside she looks around for a place to relieve herself. I have tried everything I can think of and all that has been recomended to me and nothing seems to work. Currently I put out a puppy training pad incase she does go in the house but lately she has used places that aren't protected by the pad. When she does go outside I give her tons of praise and attention along with a treat as a reward but she still will hold it until she gets inside. I have tired taking her out every few hours and that doesn't seem to work either. Any ideas would be appericiated.
Thanks, John |

I've found that giving my puppy only a little bit of the yard to play in has helped. Also - don't let your pup have full run of the house just yet. I use kid gates to keep him in smaller areas of the house.
Good Luck - just be patient, he'll get it eventually! |
