Unless your crate is too large, your dog will not use the bathroom in it unless there is something wrong or she absolutely can not hold it. Her crate should be just large enough for her to stand up, turn around, sit down, and lay down. No larger. You should also get her checked for a bladder infection or a yeast infections.

The crate is not too large (I am pretty sure). If she goes in it, then she pretty much has to sit in it. We had her checked for a UTI, I guess my next step is to have her checked for a bladder infection or yeast infection.

I wouldn't recommend to stop crating your dog. Especially if he's a pup - the house is a very unsafe place to be when left unsupervised. We crate our pup only when we're not home. If it's done right the dog doesn't mind it. Our pup is 4 months old and will go to his crate when he sees us putting our shoes on.

If I were home with the dogs all day - I wouldn't crate them. But for everyone's safety - it's just easier to crate them.

Don't you worry about the dogs getting into something they shouldn't? How do your dogs do not being crated? Are they destructive when you're gone?

(I'm curious - because I know my pup would have my house torn apart in 15 minutes. He tries even when I'm watching him)
