I have had enough!!!

For those of you that have wonderful vets be LUCKY!

My vets are all completely stupid!

To make long story short.....litter of Puppies have very loose stool and 1 female seems to have a UTI. Does the vet after spending another $70.00 find out whats going on....NO and then they add on a deworming for a pup that continues to have no parasites or intestinal worms without even discussing with me first. I am sooooo ******. BTW nothing was given for a possible UTI either which I just had a go around with the vet that saw her yesterday. Supposedly he cant dispense a medication without seeing all my pups which I know is BS since they have since these guys were 4-5 weeks old by just a poop sample. These guys have not really had a consistent firm stool since being put on 8 day treatment of Metronidazole at 4-5 weeks for a supposed protozoin yet they continue to tell me these drugs wont hurt....antibiotics wont hurt...blahblahblah...UGH.

Realize they do cause harm they lower the immune system and cause these type of issues.

I wish I could find a homeopathic vet here!!

You need to find you a country vet. One that deals with large and small animals. They are the best.Good luck with your litter

That doesn't insure anything. The closest to me is large and small. And all they care about is the money.

I know your out the 70 bucks but only thing to do is try a different vet.

BB....I would be burning mad at that incompetence! I went through something like that with a former vet except she would ask me what I wanted done. What panel, what med, what this, what that? It was crazy! I finally gave up on her after I brought in one of my cats with an abcessed tooth and she 'couldn't find it'....so launched into a litany of kidney failure and quality of life and to put him down. I was like 'What'? I asked her to take one more look and loe and behold...it was right there on the front canine! So I ended up paying for a DUH session.

Do find another vet.

I agree - a good old fashioned country vet. I used to have one in CO - they treated my horse and my dogs and they ROCKED.

As in another post about vets I will mention this again. When I lived in MaineI had the best vet ever. Yes, he was an old country vet that you could find out in the cow pastures, climbing into trees to gets cats down, helping in the birth or horses along with dogs, cats, birds, wolves. You name it he did it and at a very inexpensive price too. The man had the personality of a brick but he knew his animals and right what to do. Boy oh boy do I miss that vet.

Umm. no offense, but the vet is right. Legally they cannot write prescriptions without completing a PHYSICAL exam in the last 12 months. A fecal sample isn't enough. And doctors don't typically do the labwork anyway.

The most frustrating thing ever to me is making appts, doing tests, spending all kinds of $$$ and they can't give you a diagnosis! Fries me!
Little Dover, who was hours from death, cost us about $800 so far and that's a remarkable discount mind you! and he still needs do overs on shots and to be neutered still, was never actually diagnosed with what was wrong with him.

He gave meds and treatment plans to counteract the symptoms is all but never got an answer.

It also caused a quarantine of all our fosters as we had no idea what we were dealing with, still don't. Seems it was isolated to him. He goes in next week to make sure his marrow, liver and all are back to functioning properly. Too weird.

I feel your pain.
