Black Lab with bleeding toes - allergies?

Dunstan the 12 year old black lab has a bit of a problem ... he's bleeding between his toes on all paws and the skin is quite raw and irritated. My vet has tried antibiotics, steriods and now Thyroid tablets. The antibiotics appear to releive it for a while but never completely clearing.
He spends most of the time lying around on the carpet (nylon) and doesn't appear to come into contact with anything likely to cause the irritation (wandering dew etc). The vets is at a bit of a loss ... anyone got any ideas?

He could be having issues with the carpet, the chemicals that are use to make carpeting is very harsh. You can try putting A & D diaper rash cream on his feet it seems to help with soars like your dog has. Also has your vet checked your boy for toe cancer? I know none of us want to think about it, but it can happen.

Good luck
