Buddy Had a Seizure

Oh boy, as if there has not been enough going on here! He has not had a seizure in about 6 months, we did not miss any of his pills, it was the strangest thing. We were coming back from a walk and all of a sudden he fell down, I tell you it is scary to see, but fortunately this was a very mild seizure, in fact most of the time, he was focused on me and blinking his eyes. So here are my husband and I sitting in the street, Mel looking confused, Buddy laying on the floor. Within 10 minutes he was running home looking for a treat, then an hour later he was running around the yard with his new BFF.

Seizures are a mystery to me how they come on or why. We will just have to monitor him to see if it happens again. I hope not, I would hate to have to increase his meds.

I hope it was an isolated case. If he hasn't had one in over six months, then maybe it is. Seizure meds are bad. Poor Charlie isn't the same dog on his and it's just sad. I hope you don't have to up his dose.

Oh honey.. big hugs! Sometimes environmental like heat, or humidity ( ie hard time breathing etc) can trigger one. Just try to keep him quiet. Seizures are frightening. But not having one in 6 months is a great sign. Maybe just chalk it up to a bad day? {{{{{hugs}}}}}

BM,She lives,in Florida so it's hot and humid,all year round!.
Alimel,
So sorry to hear this but no seizures for 6mths is great!.
sometimes,not doing anything and just staying calm can be a better approach!.Take it easy,for the next 2 or 3 days with the walk!.I would maybe also hose/spray him before walking,I find that it helps with the heat and epileptic dogs.L

Oh my gosh, I didn't even read that right!!!!!! Poor Buddy. They can't both be under the weather!! Maybe Buddy was jealous of the attention Mel was getting, better give him so extra loving.

Buddy's meds make him less active and have put quite a bit of weight on him, so hopefully this was a one time occassion. As it is, he is not as active as a 4 year old Beagle should be because of the Pheno.

I should have known this was coming on, for the past few days he has been clingy, he is not usually like that and that is one of the warning signs. We are going to wait until later to walk him in the evening in case the weather is a factor.

Funny, today Mel is having a good day...my hair is getting more grey by the days!
