blake getting *snip snip*

i will be going on a 4 day vacation near the end of the month and while Blake is being kenneled at my vets, i thought it would be convenient to have him fixed at the same time. from the info i received when Blake came in to my life, his birthday should be some time this month.

i just wonder if it is a good idea for him to have this done while i will be so far away?

Blake is an 80-100 pound black lab for those of you who don't remember him.

I don't see an issue being so far away. In fact, it will be almost a luxury to have him at the vets the whole recovery time so if something is to go wrong he's in good hands immediately.

If it were a different type of surgery I'd maybe be concerned about being so far away but neutering is not considered a high risk surgery and almost all recover well.

that's what i was thinking, i don't think i could deal with him popping his stitches.

i had planned to have him fixed in august for a few months now and i figured i could kill two birds with one stone.

i will probably drop him off Friday morning and pick him up on Monday or Tuesday. he should be back to his hyper self by then.

Sounds like a good plan to me, but I don't know how much fun you'll have! Hopfully you're not one of those stressers like I am... I'd be sitting there "Oh, is he okay?"

Once again, glad you have him, and hope everything goes well!

Working at a clinic which also boards felines, we often have clients do this. I think it sounds like a great idea. Kudos for neutering.

Really good idea - he'll be feeling better when you bring him home...no post surgery issues for you to worry about (other than cone-head )
