we recently moved and my two year old heeler/lab mix has bit my neighbors. what can i do to keep her from biting people? and alas the move means smaller quarters and my darling ebby had to move to a close friends house. how i miss her.

She's probably defending her territory. The best thing to do would be to supervise her constantly when outside. Don't even give her the chance to get close to the neighbor.
I had a dog that bit the neighbor, and friends, and neighbors dogs. He was a great dog - when there was no one else around - but I realized that he could not be trusted. I always worried that a kid would walk through my yard and get mauled (he didn't just bite to warn - he bit to kill). If you can not trust your dog - and you know deep down that his behavior won't change - you might have to make a hard decision. It's only been about 2 months since I put my little angel down. It was the hardest thing I've ever done - but I wouldn't have been able to live with myself had he attacked someone seriously. |
