Cool

I started actual obedience training with my 4 month old Husky (Neko)last night. I have to say he's such a smart little cookie - he learned heel after 1 block. After that he had it pretty well down. I came back home proclaiming that I was a master dog trainer. (OK - it probably has nothing to do with me, but a girl can dream - can't she!)

To anyone starting training for a dog. I would definately reccommend seeing a trainer. I took our previous dog to a trainer. He had a saying that the owners need more training than the dogs. So true. I tried for months to train the last dog to walk on a leash - and it didn't work. After 2-3 obedience classes he was an angel. Now I know what to do - so it's a lot easier to train my pup. I think that was the best purchase I ever made - for all my dogs.

Talking

We are on our 4th dog right now. We got them alll as pups. The first doggie was JULY then we went to springer spaniels....got Maggie ...she had pups and we kept one so we have always had at least 2 dogs. Right now we have one of Maggies pups who is 12 now....and a new pup....springer. We took July and Maggie to dog school but not Maggies pup , Marla. I trained her at home. BUT this new pup, LUCY is going to be a hard one. I thought I could train her at home....but I have doubts!!!

It's hard training dogs yourself - especially when you get a stubborn one!
