molting pup + how to...?
i bathe mischa every 4 weeks in the lundry tub and today when i bathed her i noticed alot of hair left in the sink. she does molt a little but there were chunks of hairs!!! then when i drying her, i noticed that she had a huge patch of hair missing just under her chin where her collsr sits. she is literally bald under there and i never noticed it. is this normal or does she have some sort of skin problem? also she has been wearing her harness most of the time lately as she is constantly under leashed supervision. could it be that?
another question: how do i safely bathe her without gettign her ears wet? is there some special way? any tips? i get really nervous when i do bathe her becasue i get scared of getting moisture in her ear and causing an infection (happende earlier at 12 weeks old). |

It sounds like she might have something. If the hair was just missing I would think the collar was rubbing it off but finding chunks in the bath is another story. What does the skin look like? Is it dry & flakey, is it moist and infected looking, or just normal skin?
If I remember correctly there are some dietary deficiencies that could cause this and some skin infections. When is your next vet visit scheduled for? I would definately discuss with the vet. I have heard putting a little cotton in does the trick (it won't help if soak them). A damp washcloth is likely enough to wash her face & head without the risk of water going in her ears. |
