Splatter seizures.

Just need to talk ,Splatter started seizing monday evening and he went all night and next day ,so i call the vet and we had to pump him full of Phenobarbital .1mg every hour and a half .he was still seizing that nite and he had his last one on wed at 4:30 in the afternoon .I was so scared for him.So the vet's had to add more meds to his other meds he takes .I;m so mad that a breeder would just keep breeding pup know that one of her dogs is a carrier of this gene .This poor boy had 20 seizures before it stop .A very sad mommy .ty.Aussiemom2

people always wonder why we here are so passionate when it comes to breeding THIS is why...we hate to see not only the dog but the owners suffer like this because of bad breeding practices

Well said, Atomic. I totally agree. So many people get their backs up because they feel like we are telling them what they can and can't do with "their" dog. If they could fell the suffering you are going through, I can only hope that they would reconsider their selfish breeding ideas.

Have you contacted the breeder? This kind of practice makes my blood boil. Folks like you are left to deal with the consequences of irresponsible breeding. I'm so sorry that you're going through this. Best wishes to Splatter.

I feel so bad for you. I do know what you are going through. I actually contacted my breeder to let them know that my pup was having seizures. It did not stop them from breeding the same pair, but there are some reputable breeders that want feedback about their puppies. I know of a few breeders that after being told a puppy was seizing the actually had the bitch or sire fixed and refuse to use that animal due to this. Please keep us informed on what is going on. Poor little guy. A dogs life is so short, they shouldn't get sick. It's not fair to them. Best wishes to your little guy.

I am so sorry you and your pup are going through this. Did the vet say they would be able to ease the seizures?

Up date on Splatter ,he has stop having seizures for now ,but the poor boy is so drug up and he is so scared of everything ,he is back to his normal dose of meds but its taking a very long time for the meds to wear off.Lets cross are fingers he has no more .tyvm for all the kind words aussiemom2

Poor kid and poor you. Ask your vet if they will give you some valume paste to give him rectally. One of my clients dogs have sezures and the only way we can help him is to give him valume paste.
