Buddy and Ripped Pad...Again

A few days ago Buddy's front paw was irritated between his pads, it looked like he may have been bit by a red ant. He must have chewed on this while we were at work and tore his pad. He would not put any pressure on it and was limping on 3 legs. I soaked it in warm water and epson salt and administered Polysporin once it dried. It was better within 2 days. This is not the first time he has ripped the pads on his paw At first I thought it was the hot pavement, but it has not been as hot and it has rained quite a bit. The inside of his paw was definitely irritated, could allergies cause this? He is on a grain free diet

Red ant as in Fire ant? If so then yes it most certainly can be. Those things are a beast!

It can also be pesticide,a flea or a food allergy!.Priska is allergic to both pesticides and fleas so I pay attention to where she walks!.My best advice is to rinse his feet with warm water and soap, dry it and put gold bond on it cos it could become a hotspot!.Do it everytime,he goes out and pay attention to pesticides warning signs!.Fire ant can also creat hot spot cos the dog, keep licking at it!.

Fire ant wouldn't surprise me. I got bit by 2 on Saturday at the fall festival and it was very uncomfortable for a while. Poor little Buddy.

Buddy is such a trooper, he never complains. He was running with the girls on 3 legs!
