Cotons at the Vet (Weight)

Holly and Kirby went in for a general exam & vaccinations today. Not to brag (of course not ) but my dogs were by far the most well behaved dogs there. A doodly thing tried to eat them, then the guy had the nerve to let his dog sniff my dog's butts when he was coming out of the office. Holly didn't want to climb on the scale alone, but she stayed when placed.

Anyways, the vet did find a long list of things that were not ideal with her health though. I know that she tends to have allergies in the later fall-winter, so some of it was no surprise. Eyes slightly red, ears slightly red and some scabbing, tartar build-up, etc. Nothing that he would be really concerned about, but not the best of health. She pretty much weighs the same thing she did before. She's about 8.5 lbs. The good news is that she was competely as cool as a cucumber. She was better than Kirby in fact- he was tense... seems to have developed a fear of metal table tops. The slipperiness makes him uneasy, and it shot his heart rate up to 160 bpm. Anyways she thought everything was fine, no shaking, scrambling, or making flying leaps to land on my head.

He couldn't find anything at all wrong with Kirby. He went over Kirby for what seemed like forever, but ended up writing okay forever. I've learned recently that dogs that appear healthy tend to have their health problems show up around the age of 5-6 years, and Kirby is five and a half- so far perfect. He wasn't really concerned about his weight either. However, Kirby weighed in at 13.6 lbs today... where he used to be close to 16 lbs. I would like to start building some more weight (muscle weight on him.) Last week at agility someone told me that he's so skinny under the hair, and someone else's poodle is at least an inch and a half shorter than Kirby and weighs 11.5 lbs, and looks skinny. He's not uncomfortably thin, and strong as bricks, but pretty bony. Kirby doesn't do nasal vaccines well. My wrestling hold skills have improved dramatically since working at my current job. lol

Kirby needs to go back to the gym and do some body building.
