Pus on belly

I have a 7 year old brown and white border collie.
He normally lives with my mum but she's on holiday so Glen's with me.
Anyway he has a red itchy underbelly. The vet says its a yeast infection but this is the second time he has had it. I went to apply tea tree on it to sooth the skin and had a mini panic attack. He has pus on the surface of his skin, there are parts of his fir in it and it looked like a big lump or infected mass.
I cant take him to the vet until tmrw but i'm wondering if I should try to clean the pus off or leave him be.
He's asleep now ( it is half past midnight ) and I dont want to disturb him if i dont have to.

If you have an appointment tomorrow, then I would only wipe it with a warm cloth if he lets you. Chances are, he's scratched it raw, and applying anything to it probably stings like mad.

Please let us know what happens.

Thanks for your concern

The vet says that the skin infection got worse and he had scratched himself raw.
We live in Scotland and it been pouring down the last week or so. The added moisture irritated the skin even more causing him to scratch.
The vet cut the fur sticking to the area, and said to just leave it to dry, and not to clean it at the end of the night.
He was given a steroid injection to help with the itching, aswell as antibiotics and a course of steroids (which I wasn't to happy about but hey)
He has to go back for a check up with my mum next week. Think that he might have an allergy.
I thought he had sarcoptic mange (spelling o.O') at one point.
Thinkin about trimmin the fur on his tummy shorter to.

I'm glad you were able to follow through and got the dog to the vet. The steriod shot should stop most if not all of the itching. Thank goodness it was nothing worse.
