Red face Boxer in need of help

OBEDOG and AgilityDog referred me here for help...I have a male boxer who turned 2 in July. He was neutered when he was about 16 months old. He was diagnosed with pancreatitis and small intestinal bacterial overgrowth at 10 months old. (both conditions are safely managed with a low-fat diet and by his taking pro-biotics). Approximately one month before his second birthday he began leaking a small amount of urine while he slept. I was house sitting for a friend who also had two boxers of her own when my little guy started to leak (while there he played harder and a lot more than he was used to). Over the past 3 and a half months he has had a TON of lab work and tests done. The tricky part is that ALL his lab work come back looking beautiful. Both my vet and the specialists at the lab are at a loss for why he continues to have issues. Recently I put him on PROIN 50 chewable tablets (Phenylpropanolamine) for 30 days, however this was not helpful. I am SUPER frustrated and feel terrible for my little man. He doesnt leak a whole lot at once...maybe a teaspoon or 2 at a time...but its enough to be able to smell (now I put a diaper on him at night). He used to drip during the day, but I havent seen that happen in quite awhile. I would really like to figure out what is causing his problem and would appreciate any info/advice anyone can lend. I am willing to go to a specialist if need be, but dont know what step to take next. Please help I will do anything I can to figure out how to help him. Thanks!

Welcome!

I have had great results by going to my nearest veterinary college. If I had a location I could help you locate one. You would have the advantage of the best diagnostic tools available as well as the knowledge of a diverse group of specialists, and I highly recommend it.

It's a mystery! Could the neutering have somehow damaged the sphincter that contols baldder function?

I live in Rockford, Illinois. I thought about taking him to a specialist, but taking him to a school makes me nervous. Dont you worry about a "student" making a mistake or not knowing what they are really doing? I am a little over protective but if its whaat I have to do, then its worth considering. Thanks!

I wouldn't have any reservations about taking him to a vet school. No student is left on their own to make a diagnosis nor administer treatment without the overseeing of a certified Vet teacher.

Students don't do anything they aren't capable of doing in the hospitals.
But the teaching staff is invaluable as far as diagnosing troublesome cases, and the equipement they have is state of the art.

The one I linked to below has five board certified specialists in Internal Medicine. In one place. Ready to see your dog.
You are closer to Madison WI than Urbana IL, right?

I cannot recommend this highly enough!!
