We recently acquired a small (4 lb) male pomeranian. He is adjusting but has a couple of behavior problems. When he is in someones lap, he gets very agressive if someone walks up to him. Also, he barks excessively when anyone leaves out the door. Any suggestions?

give him a good shake! i used to know a dacshund (sp?) that did the same thing, i picked him up by his scruff and gave him a really good shake one day and he never did it again. At least not while i was there. Does he actually try and bite or is it just for show?

Bad problem, could be fatal for your dog if he goes any further with his aggression, especially if a child is involved. He is displaying posessiveness.
Solution: Don't put him on your lap.
He will also take your seat next and growl at you if you try to move him.
If someone is leaving, put a lead on him, make him sit, and when they go out the door, if he barks "YELL" NO. give a reward if he gets it right.
