when I let her out, she wants to immediately come back in, and scratches hard at the storm door, sounds like she's gonna knock it down. It's very annoying, but how do I go about getting her to quit.
Thus far i've yelled No through the window, and just not opened it until she quit...but it aint helpin. |

My dog mindy would sit at the gate and bark till I went out there with her I realized she wasn't wanting to come back in the house she just wanted me to be out there with her. Do you put your dog outside to stay or just go to the bathroom? I would put mindy out to go to the bathroom so I didn't have to stay out there very long. Lisa

Just to go potty, and never more than 4-5 minutes.
Alot of the time she'll just keep scratching and jumping against the door as soon as she goes out, and then after a few minutes she'll go potty. So it's hard to wage if she has to potty or not. It is driving me nuts. Most of the time I have to pick her up and put her out, sometimes she runs from me I am tired of cleaning up messes, so she has to go out often.

Freckles not only scratches to let us know she wants back in, she learned she could open the door when she was about 8 months old and big enough to reach the handle. We have to put a metal screen in front of the door when we leave. Because if we lock it she will still try to get it open.... calls for a lot of paint patching!!!
If I ignore her she eventually will find something else to do....but, as said above, she just wants to be where we are...inside or out. What do you do? Who loves you more than they do?! |
