Heartgard

How soon after surgery can I give heartgard? And does it interact with any of the meds she is on?
Fentinyl, tramadol, gabapentin, chlormphenicol (sp), dasuquin, rimidyl, ace...?

Heartgard should not interfere with any of those medications. I would go ahead and give it as normally scheduled.

BTW -- that's quite the list of meds! I bet it's fun to administer all those to your dog! Sounds like your vet is quite into pain management too! What type of surgery?

Luxating patella. The first one was just under 3 weeks ago. It failed and the bone they had pinned the soft tissue to broke off and the bone migrated up toward the joint. So that was discovered at 10 days back into surgery at 14 days and now it's been 5 days since the second surgery.
Yes, giving the meds is getting increasingly more difficult. She has learned that I wrap the pills up in a sliced piece of beef, ham or turkey. Yesterday I gave her her 2nd course of antibiotics. She wouldn't swallow she just stood there with the meet half in and half out of her mouth. Eventually she took the whole thing into her mouth. We went outside to pee and she just diddled around and wouldn't go. Back to the crate. About 5 minutes after being put in the crate out pops the antibiotic and down went the meat. I was laughing so hard! She's a clown and a half!
I am having to get quite inventive... sigh
