Binky's Bum part II

Well, as many of you know, Bianca has had a lot of trouble with her anal sacs. (We have followed Kirby's saga diligently). She seems to have a problem expressing them. Well, Monday I noticed that her bum looked a little "poochy" which is usually the precursor to an infection. Tuesday was her grooming day and Hilary said that the sacs were full, but she couldn't get much to come out. So yesterday we went to the vet and her sacs are infected-again. The vet expressed them internally and then said on Monday she will flush them out with saline and fill them with liquid antibiotic, using a teeny, tiny catheter (her description-not mine). This should take a couple of hours and she won't have to be sedated. So, Monday morning, if you have nothing better to do-please say a little prayer for Binky's bum.
the doctor said that we will try to keep the sacs full as long as we can (up to six months) and that the antibiotics will actually shrink the sacs as well.

Filling them with antibiotics and keeping them full of it? HOW? Does she have to keep getting them filled, or is it supposed to like congeal or something and stay filled.

We know that bums are sensitive. Good luck, little one.

Moo, I think if she is already having trouble expressing and they do have a tendency to fill, they are counting on that to keep the antibiotics in. I'll have more info. on Monday.

Well, it took about an hour and a half this morning and Bianca seems perfectly fine. Of course, she'll not be getting her glands expressed anytime soon! They said there might be a little seepage, but really it seems to not have bothered her at all. The more I think of it, the sadder it makes me that Kirby had to go through what he did!
