Getting a little bit nervous...

My mom's dog, Tinker Bell, is really off today. She has diahrrea, has been really larthargic, sometimes when called, she seems like she can't stand, and just drags her butt over to me... ETA: And when she stands, her steps aren't very sure, she's falling over, and walking with her back hunched up.

She recently learned a new trick, and it's jumping into someones arms, and I'm worried that while doing it, someone caught her in the wrong spot and hurt her back, somehow...? Any ideas?

Mom's not home right now, it's just me and the furry gang, but she should be home anytime, and Tinker will probably be taken to the vet... But until then, is there anything I can/should be doing?

This all came on very qucikly. Yesterday she was fine, then this morning is when I assume it started (I didn't get a chance to talk to mom before she left this morning, but she didn't leave a note mentioning it or anything)...

Opinions? Good Wishes? Any advice you can give other than the basic "take her to the vet" (Because that will happen!)?

ouch.. well maybe hopefully she just pulled a muscle in her back. I am afraid only a vet can tell for sure. Does she have any labored breathing or panting ( ie signs of stress or constriction in the heart) ?

No, no panting or any sings of labored breathing... I'm just a bit worried that the sleeping/laying around, and the diahrrea may be a larger problem. I haven't seen her drink today, should I force her to drink some water?

I'm getting really ticked off with my mother. Today would be the day she doesn't take the cell phone!

With no signs of stress, and granted I am not a vet, that is a good sign. Maybe she is just resting not feeling well.
Yes- I would offer her water. If she normally drinks alot you could add some pedialyte to the water like 1/4 ped to 3/4 water mixture.
In my prayers.. I am nursing a girl today that hurt herself as well but we know the condition and did contact the vet already. Do you know her vet you could call?

Um... I could find it, and call them, I'm sure, but I don't know if they're open on Saturdays...

I'm really starting to panic...

Tinky is mom's agility dog who never stops going, this is VERY abnormal for her... She usually doesn't drink a lot of water, infact, I hardly ever see her drinking unless she has just come in from playing...

She stretched a few minuites ago, and while doing so, her back legs were shaking... I'm so worried this is something seroius... My mother was supposed to be home over an hour ago!

Not sure what to tell you my dear.. You are there and I am not.. You know the dog best but if you are this concerned I can see why are seriously worried.. However- they do shut down to rest when hurt.. and thats the best for her. But only a vet can say if rest is the only thing needed.

Thanks, Borzoimom. Just having someone to talk about it to has helped me to calm down a little, though I'm still very close to panic...

I'll give mom another 30mins to get home, and if she's not, I'll start calling the vet, and all the people who mom could possibly have stopped to chat with.

I just FINALLY got a hold of mom. But not before Tinky struggled to get up and move. Mom's about 30 mins away, and is going to call the vet before she leaves so she can pick something up if they tell her she needs to... When she gets home, we're headed to the vet... I just have to keep telling myself 45 mins atleast, and mom will be home, and she'll be on her way to the vet...

ETA: Mom said she puked earlier, and it was redish (Not blood red) and there were chunks of meat... She's thinking that she got Salminela (sp) poisioning, or something... Deer season was a while back, and dad left the guts and stuff laying around(outside), and mom figures she got into that. She called the vet, and had to leave her name and number, but they're supposed to call asap...

nothing to offer that could help,
Sounds like a stomach issue, and eating rancid meat would cause the symptoms you discribe.
Usually it passes with a lot of discomfort

Keep an upbeat attitude, and I hope the dog will be OK.

Thank you, JTP... I hope so too...

I know nothing about dogs being sick, I haven't ever really tried to learn about differnt things until they happen. I haven't a clue about what's happening when it's happening, only what was going on after it's done... And that's why I'm determined that someday I'll be a Vet tech, if not a vet.

The way she's moving makes me think it's more than just "Salminela (sp) poisioning", her hind legs aren't moving like they usually do, they're stiff, and she's walking funny when she walks, you know what I mean? It's like it hurts to move her hind legs, and she's moving like I would consider "stiff legged" on a person...
