Unhappy our turn for kennel cough

unfortunately, Faith's got kennel cough. the daycare she goes to starting getting calls the day after she went last week and it's just getting worse. the daycare has actually decided to shut down until after the holidays in order to disinfect the place and keep all the dogs away from each other to prevent further spread of the disease.

fortunately, right now, she's got a very mild case. the vet told me this morning that it will get worse before it gets better. she might be a very sick girl on christmas. she's definately feeling it a bit, she doesn't have her normal energy level, but she's eating fine for now.

but, i'm glad i caught it early. one of her good buddies was misdiagnosed by his vet and was in horrible shape by the time they got him to the emergency vet.

get this - his regular vet told the owners he didn't have kennel cough, even though we got an email about it going around the daycare and the owners told him about the email. he said it was the dog having an allergic reaction to the rawhide he had been chewing. um, yeah, even though the dog has had rawhide for 4 years with no issue, that vet insisted that it was an allergic reaction and not kc.

and, no, i do not go there. to be honest, any time her dog is ill and she takes him there it seems like the vet comes up with more and more ridiculous things to say. i really think he's a quack.
