Rescues of 2008

What a year it's been! My rescue year began with my first adoption of Barbie McWire's little girl Jersey who is now Darby and was adopted to my Mom.

Along the way, there were more than 100 fosters and adoptions (because I think I'm known as the crazy puppy lady and litters defintaly escalate the numbers! ) for my former rescue I fostered for.

Since starting my own the beginning of October, Collar of Hope has now:
5 cats/kittens adopted
39 dogs/puppies adopted
4 more kittens in foster care
19 dogs/puppies in foster care

This with the mere efforts of a very few people. But just look at how many dogs and cats have been spared an uncertain fate at a shelter?
This is not to toot any horns but rather to show what a little bit of effort can make!

So, with a bittersweet ending to the year, my big baby boy George was adopted today! for me but for George. He is now living on 12 secure acres with a horse, a 6 month old lab brother and a 4 year old lab x pointer brother and work at home parents.
They've had 3 Great Danes in the past that were all rescues and lost the last one in October. George did great and he looked soooo very happy, it was a pleasure to see him with that life! I will miss him terribly! (mental note to self ~ always bring one of my own dogs for long lonely trips back home from emotional adoptions!)
Best wishes for a wonderful long life with your new family George!

Here's George when he first arrived.

This was his way of helping stay out of my way when I needed to get the floors cleaned as noted by all the dirt they drag in present. I also think he was watching animal planet hehe

Here he was having a blast in our recent snow storm with Patches chasing him all over!

Thanks Borzoimom. The reward is seeing them as I saw George today and knowing kids will never terrorize him again! Or seeing others in the very best place for them!

It really was! Otherwise, I wouldn't have adopted him today. He's had several meets and none were up to par for him until today...
Thank you rubyred

I remember when you took on two pregnant females and pups born enough to make me want to cry! You never did this before- and talk about rising to the occasion! My stars..
