Angry Dog Hair in the Car

How do you clean all the hair that your dog leaves in the car?

My goodness, we went on a small road trip and Sammy got his hair ALL OVER the car... the seats, the dashboard, EVERYWHERE! LOL. I need some advice on how to clean the car...

I haven't found anything that gets it all. I usually vaccum as best that I can using that long nozzle attachment for under the seats, etc. Then a swiffer for the dash, etc.

Only sure way - Sell the car LOL.

Try packing type wrapped around your hand with the sticky side out.. rub it across the upholstery, dash, etc.. it will take a lot of tape BUT it will get most, if not all, of the hair out!

LOL also, depending on where you are.. a lot of the car wash places here have commercial strength vacuums.. they will get a lot more hair than my regular vac will suck up!

Good luck

The dashboard wont be very hard to clean out. The seats are the problem. The easiest and probably the best way to get it out is by masking tape that has a very large width (to cover more ground so to speak) And use it as if you were waxing your legs or something females do I do when i get hair all over my darker clothes. Takes it all out. Good luck.

You know? I always think that and I always forget! You'd think I would learn.....

Sometimes, I get a paper towel damp and then wipe it over the seats after I've vacummed. I think the masking tape is a way better idea, though! That's what I'm trying next time....

Open the windows all the way!

Ha ha - most of the hair flies out the window. Nothing like spreading their DNA around the world! Actually I have a quilt that they sit on - I have leather seats and put the quilt on back and seat and most of the hair stays on it.

When I had a car with a velvet-y material I used duct tape. It sticks better and grabs up all the hair, just don't leave it on the seat or it will leave sticky residue. I found that masking tape didn't get it all, even the 2" stuff. I had a collie and her hair was over 8 inches long in places and she shed all year long.

Now the two shelties shed, but it seems to be seasonal. Foxy (9 year old sable sheltie) barely sheds; and Simmie (5 year old sheltie) sheds seasonally - whenever there is a season outside, she sheds. We got her a few months ago (she's retired from mommyhood and showing) and her hair is growing and growing. The breeder we got her from (wonderful lady) told us that she has long fur and she wasn't kidding! Simmie's still growing out but her tail is already dragging on the ground.
