Basset Rescuers?

Here's the story....
one of my subordinates has a friend that owns a 6mo, unaltered male, basset hound. Once they are no longer little puppies he kicks them out to live outside. Apparently this friend gets dogs as puppies, then gets rid of them as they get older
He was going to take him to the Humane Society, and while it is nice for a Humane Society, I wondered if anyone here could help out. Right now my subordiate is the only one who has kept him from taking him the the Humane Society right now.
I don't have much more information on him except that he is a very sweet dog, but is not house broken.

I have retired Basset friends who have been seeking a younger male. They have a female and lost thier boy a few mos ago to cancer. It's a ways to travel though I have helped transport a couple of dogs from Colorado before....

Well if a good home is found I wouldn't mind driving a little ways to help out
If they are interested I will try to get as much info as possible. Let me know!
(Not sure if they actually want someone to pay for him or if they're just giving him up. It sounded like just giving him up, but you never can be sure with people when it comes to their purebred dog!)

There may be a basset or general breed rescue willing to facilitate the transport. You'd be amazed at what we basset people can do. If you'd like I can try and find out if there is a rescue in your area.
