Washing Your Dog

I was just curious on your washing habits on your dogs. If you want to, you can indicate if your dog has short/long hair.

My dog has long hair, and I've bathed her twice in the past year. Once right after i got her because she had shelter greasy smelly coat. The second time was at my school's dog wash. She hates water and hates the dryer. Luckily, she stays pretty clean.. i dont even have to brush her that often! I guess someone at the hospital said that border collies have something in their oils that helps them stay clean and shiny.

It is the same with Goldens... they barely need to be washed because the oils repel much of the dirt

Talking Long hair shelties!

We have 2 shelties and they get groomed every 5 weeks (so I answered monthly). We have a doggie door and live in Phoenix, so they are in and out all the time. They like to take naps outside and there is a lot of dirt in the air from construction and farming. I brush them regularly in addition to the grooming.

I wish I could post pictures - don't know how to! Don't have a URL.

our first trip to the real groomer is tomorrow. but since i've had puppy (2-26-05) he's had a few baths, the 1st one was cause he smelled funny, and since then its because of the mud, while the snow was melting, our yard was sooo muddy. one bath was because he decided to walk through the stagnant water at my parents house, we had to wrap him in a towel just to drive home with him (urgh stinky)...

I wash Dusty about 1 time a month. She doesn't stink or smell doggie. In the winter she goes to Petsmart. In the summer I do it outside. She has short hair.

I bathe Lexus once every 2-3 weeks. I hate for peoples hands to smell *doggy* after petting her...and she gets a lot of petting b/c she comes to work with me! I use the salon in PetsMart....and she LOVES it...but hates the dryers. I also paint her nails...hehe!

About once a month in the summer. I wash them both down outside with the hose and shampoo. One rough coat border collie and one lab.
