More Seizures for Chuck

Chuck had 12 grand mals on Saturday, plus several overnight and several on Sunday.

They gave him Valium Suppositories (I think that's what my mom said) and he was good for about four hours before they came back again and hard.

They've been to the specialist, he's been on tons of meds, and he still has this problem.

My mom is going to be on a cruise in March. She's afraid to leave him anywhere but the vets now. I feel so bad for them and guilty. I brought that dog into their life. I chose him. Granted, without my mom, this dog would probably be dead, but still.

That is very sad. I know first hand about seizures and you just feel so helpless. I don't blame her for wanting to leave Chuck with the vet while she is away.

How long has it been before he had these seizures?

He had another really bad day around Christmas. I think the day before Christmas Eve, actually. The same day my Grandma died.

Sending healing vibes to Chuck. RC, don't feel bad, you placed him with your mom which has most likely given him longer life and a better quality of life.

When I walked into that house and saw that the woman was keeping him locked in her kitchen because her 5 little maltese and chihuahuas were constantly attacking him and causing injuries, how could I not walk out that door with that dog?

She had him eating ice cream as a diet staple (he got a full bowl every night, "But he likes it" she said!), Pedigree free fed the rest of the time, was kept in a tiny room without much human or animal contact and was going to be BRED if the woman had kept him. She got him from Petland... go figure.

he was going to be bred?!

whenever you feel bad think about how much better his quality of life has been and think about all the potential puppies and families you have prevented from having to deal with this

i hope something can be done for him

So sorry to hear this. I do agree that, despite whatever outcome, he certainly had/has a much better life with your Mom.

I suppose, if we all had crystal balls, then many would choose not to take in a soul who may have troubles down the road. But we are not equipped with the foresight and so, often, follow our hearts. You followed yours and Chuck has known love.

Best Wishes for him and for you and your Mom.

Oh, man, I am so sorry to hear this. Your poor mom, and poor little Chuck. Wish I could do more than send healing vibes.
