Hunger Strike?

Dreamer seems to have gone on a hunger strike. Since about two days ago she has been picky with her food. That day I fed her the morning meal which she did not touch. She did eat her vitamins and coat supplemnt so I figured it was the terrible heat that decreased her appetite.

I fed her at night, again the same thing. So I put her to bed with her food dish, and by mornng she had eaten everything. Yesterday night I again had to put her food in her crate but this morning it was still full.

When I took her for her walk she kept trying to eat the grass (which she had been doing for a few days), and in the house she threw up and refused her food.

I made a bit of chicken broth and soaked her food in that and she gobbled it up.

What could it be? I know she hasnt eaten anything strange, as I watch over her like a hawk. All she gets is her kibble which she has always eaten.

I really dont think she could be pregnant as we should be approaching the halfway mark and I dont see a difference in her. Thanks!

When a dog goes off their food like that for the first time it's always a good idea to touch base with your vet. There could be a tummy bug going around or she could have more going on. The big worry is dehydration with hot weather and a dog who is vomiting. I know you said she's only been sick once that you could see, but I would still call the vet and ask them what's going around.

Good luck

Can an obstruction b cause by undigested kibble? I am 110% sure she has not eaten anything other than her kibble.

I will be takingher to the vt though, I am dying to confirm a possible pregnancy

I could be her kibble if she didn't chew it, she's a little dog and it wouldn't take much to block her up.

Sounds like a blockage....when Hudson had his torsion he was throwing up his undigested food. I say get her to a vet ASAP if it is a blockage you only have so long before things get bad and when they get bad they get bad fast and you only have hours if that to fix things.

Good luck keep us posted. OH and question....did you breed her? is that why you think she might be preggers?

I say vet too. It's not good for them to stay like that. In the meantime you can get some gel called Nutri Cal ? that you can stick on the roof of their mouth. They have no choice but to eat it and it gives them that boost of energy and nutrients that they need. I'm not sure as far as the pregnancy as you didn't mention anything about that.
