Guess my neighbors dog's breeds

I was just wondering what everyone thinks these guys are. The owners aren't really sure and I have my guesses. Don't want to give you any ideas, so I'll say what they are after some people have guessed. Just something fun to see if everyone thinks the same.....

This is Piper..... they got her from someone they met that couldn't keep her anymore. Their other dog was attacking her, in fact when they got Piper she had been chewed up... the old owners paid her vet bills until she was all better. She was flyball trained.

Think HIGH ENERGY breeds!!! When you throw the ball for her, she can usually catch it before it hits the ground!

This is Bodie......

they adopted him as a puppy from PetsMart. They were told he was a mix between two breeds, I think one was right, but not the other. He is not as energetic as Piper, he prefers to watch the ball chasing and not participate!

Smooth coated border collie. Likely a mix for the colouring (brown and blue grizzling), but otherwise, very close.

Appy, how big are they? Brodie looks alot bigger... which would make sense if Piper is a BC.

I would say Bodie is about 2-4 inches bigger than Piper.... he is bigger though.

HINT: I think they both have a breed in common.....

Brodie - part American Eskimo or Husky? Looks kind of small, so maybe bred with a border collie?

Can't get over those ears though . . . . looks like part bat. lol (no offense Piper)

Piper : Smooth Border Collie

Brodie : Basenji x Australian Shepeherd. Ok, I don't really see the Australian Shepherd, but I see the basenji. I kept having Husky and St Bernard going through my head, but obviously no Saint Bernard, it would make him enormous.

As for Piper, I'm not even sure it's a mix.

Brodie's tail, ears and head shape:

Do you guys see any Australian Cattle dog in both of them with the freckling on their legs, chest, face, etc......

Piper..... Border Collie with Australian Cattle Dog

Bodie...... Akita with Australian Cattle Dog

The first picture is a ACD I thought looks like him
The second is a Akita I thought looks like him, see the tail and the hair type

I honestly don't think there's any ACD in Piper, there might be some in Brodie. Piper, it would completely change the build, possible, I just don't see it. Some border collies have the freckly things too, as do a handul of other breeds. The brown interests me though.

About Brodie, what breed would make him carry his head so low?

We didn't think Piper could be purebred because the only Border Collies I've ever seen had long hair and no freckling.

What do you mean about Bodie carrying his head so low?
