George ~ Darn IT!
I picked George, Great Dane, back up today from his bawling Daddy.
They were gone from home and the cleaning lady came in, that he's met a few times before... he bit her on the elbow to the bone!!! I can't believe this! grrrr.. He blew such a fabulous home!!!! I don't know what happened or what was going through his mind. He always had a Dane protectiveness about him but... he had met her already... They took him to the Vet for an eval already too to rule out anything going on medically with him.. I don't know what to do now... It was me take him back, which of course I would and did, or he would be pts. They could not afford the liability... Any suggestions?? I'm at a loss.. totally unexpected!

Oh cr*p
I am sorry about George. Wonder why he was not crated while they were gone. He is still fairly new there right? He probably is not 100% comfortable yet and this woman came into his home when his family was not there.

Ok...hold on now. George had a forever home and bit the cleaning lady??? I don't know what your laws state, but here I THINK George would be PTS.
IF he does come back with something neurologically wrong wouldn't he still be PTS? I am soooo sorry that this situation happened. Please keep us abreast as to what is going on. |

From what T said....This boy bit right to the womans bone. I don't know if there is any hope out there. I just hope the cleaning lady doesn't file a suit and yes....he should have been crated.

Oh Teresa,
You didn't need that and I'm sorry!. I hope he can be saved and you can found someone with experience in aggressive Dogs. Maybe JTP can help you as If I recall right,he was able to change his aggressive GD!. ((( hugs))) Laurie |

I keep hoping it was a rude way he was trying to engage play. I mean the elbow? He didn't growl or anything either and had met her on several occasions with and without them home..
The lady has been with them for a long time and didn't file a complaint nor is she pressing charges. I understand she feels really bad that because of this, they sent George packing. She knew how much he meant to them. No trouble prior or after. They don't crate. Have lots of land secured with dog running areas and a dog door even he could come and go through. If my own dogs had met someone several times and no problems... I wouldn't think I had to crate them either. I crate Gen & Ginger if I know anyone is coming to my place when I'm not home. Both can be a tad protective when I am away I'm told. |

Thank you, I appreciate that. I have enough drama from the incident itself and I need good solid help and advise right now, not more drama.
