I so wish I could take in a few. I've attempted to save from this shelter before, but the few dogs a local rescue agreed to take were thankfully adopted by others. I got the word out about two rat terriers, a bearded shepherd, and two sheltie mix puppies I thinki that all got saved by others that were closer.. but still, so many lives lost.. and by gassing. It is always so much more awful to know they will lbe gassed. That should be illegal. *sigh*

EDA: Trying to get the word out about a few of them, and if I can scrounge up a rescue and money to transport, I'll see what I can do about the Pointer looking dog (listed as greyhound/spaniel mix).

Sweet, Pita and Poppy are being taken from someone.
I want to take the Rotti looking pup oh so bad!
But I would feel awful just leaving the others there and I can't be taking in a whole litter.
And my bf isn't 100% on board, I had him so close but he said we have enough going on with our own and he doesn't think he would be able to give it up and we don't need to won another dog right now.

Pita and Poppy are safe now?!!

Bones, the greyhound/spaniel, is no longer listed. I do hope he was saved. It'd be a long drive (6 hour round trip or more) but have contacted the shelter about Pita and Poppy. A sporting dog rescue up here may have room they said, but if they are already going into safe hands, that is terrific! If you can get word back to me for sure, if the shelter doesn't before you do, that Pita and Poppy are in good hands, I can let my rescue contact not to count on searching for a foster home or saving/holding a foster home.

if i could i would get one! but living in Ontario has it problems, and distance is one of em! lol I would get Shylee, It is so sad that they take sych drastic measure against pitbulls. I love them. I dont think their ideas are fair to the breed. they are sweet dogs

I've been in contact with the shelter. There were several dogs that had "URGENT" after their names, and I was told this was a gassing shelter, however when I received an email back from the shelter, they proclaimed they are a "No-Kill" shelter and that rescue wouldn't be needed. So either they are high kill, gassing shelter that won't admit to it and won't work with rescues, or blatantly misusing the word "urgent" for dogs that are not at risk for euthanasia.

I do hope these dogs are safe, as I was ready to go drive there to pick up at least one for a local rescue.

Yes! Gasing is cruel!
People do just that, discard their dogs, everyday.. it's why so many, myself included, are so pationate about not allowing any other pets to be born as possible. There are enough problems out there...

This is a perfect example. Someone had these pups and dumped them off to a shleter to find them homes. Meanwhile, Mom will probably have another litter her next heat unless they gave her up to this time

gassing is sickening, there are videos on youtube u can watch if u can handle it to get an idea..... I dont understand why they still do this when the injection method is cheaper. I guess its more work to inject and its easier to load a bunch of animals into a metal box turn the gas on and walk away.....
