I dont know how you work at the shelter..it would break my heart and Id probably be divorced because I'd bring home every dog that came through..

this is Kate..I adopted her from Noah's Ark Animal Shelter in Gainesville, TX. she is a 6 month old Aussie/BC mix. instead of presents on my b-day, I adopted her...that was all I wanted.

I had to choose between her and her 2 brothers and it broke my heart to go back there and see all those sweet dogs. Im not emotional, but homeless dogs make me that way....

Im glad I adopted Kate and gave her a second chance..

And this is Lulu..she was abandoned at a renthouse down the road from me with her brother...her brother was dead by the time I found out who had been stealing dog food from our neighbors..but I brought Lulu home. she is 6 now and a big lovebug smoozer..she is some sort of sighthound cross..
(sorry for the blurriness, shes the masked dog on the left)

Sarah

awww.. i understand how you feel about wanting to bring home each dog lol. But I just say to myself, "When that dog has a home, a new one will come in, and I might see that dog asround town"there was a litter of 5 puppies that came in, and as soon as i have pics, i will put them up

This is Tie, my first GSD, a shelter dog. He was amazingly loyal, fiercely protective and always there when you needed him. RIP old boy. You are missed.

This is Zeus, my shelter labby. This pic was taken just months before he passed. He was loving, goofy, loyal, sweet, and full of personality. He's gone now, but I'll never forget the bond he and I shared. THIS is the reason I am the way I am with dogs. Zeus showed me why and my love for dogs grew.

I have to nominate Roxy
We've only had her five months and each of those days we have discovered something new to love about her. We have found so many tricks she knows how to do, and I feel like we have only scratched the surface.

And she has proven to be the perfect nanny for Owen- she accepts his foolishness but puts him in his place when he needs it. Perfect, perfect dog!

I can't imagine turning a dog like this into a shelter!!!!!
Their loss was most decidedly my gain.

Here is my sweet baby Yancey, rescued from the Caswell County Animal Shelter 19 months ago. He has brought us such joy.

While I've never adopted a dog (Kirby & Holly are my first dogs), I have to talk about Pudge.

Pudge was my work dog for over almost a month. We guessed that he was a Shar Pei/Chow Dog mix, and he spent 4 months in the shelter system before he was adopted. Eight hours a day, five days a week, I saw this dog. He was in the shelter system for a month before he came to us, and I'm sure he had a name, but his paper work didn't have one, so I called him Pudge. Everybody else in the place hated it, but he answered to it.

He was an awesome dog. With us, he lived in a room full of cats, and was a total doll about it. On slow days, I'd walk around the building with him without a leash. I remember a time that a tiny hand sized dog tried to attack him. We had at least one store flood with him there, and a variety of other crazy things with that company. The SPCA dogs kept me sane most of the time. We didn't get many- no wonder I'm the way I am. lol

Unfortunately, he was not adopted our through us. The SPCA decided that his time with us wasn't productive, and he was transferred, and spent two months elsewhere before he was adopted.

The day before I found out he was being transferred I got bored and unlocked the photo studio to do a shoot with him. Excellent timing on my behalf.
