Question on foamy white dog vomit...causes?
I adopted a dachshund that's 2yrd old and about 8lbs about a week ago. She didn't throw up or anything for the first day or two. I did give her a flea bath and that made her cough for a few days. Two or three days after we got her she started throwing up white foamy vomit that's very gooey. There's nothing in the vomit except on two occasions, grass and tomatoes. I live with a large family of people and they may have given her food, I did find a hotpocket in our yard when I was walking her yesterday. Anyway, she can eat and keeps down her fod and water. She doesn't eat much at one sitting though. Her poo looks like normal dog poo, it has been a little yellow yesterday and today but i think that's b/c of the hotpocket. When she goes out to walk she has been eating grass like crazy. She usually throws up 1-3 times in a day and it's not normally a lot. She does have to work to throw up doing that weird belly noise before it comes up. She doesn't seem to be in any pain, still has high energy, etc. I did just notice though she kinda salivates a lot. She's up to date on shots. Any ideas?

Grass in not very digestible that is why your dog vomited. http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art42764.asp
I would also suggest a vet visit. |

Gee, this sounds familiar. Uh, oh yeah that would be Jinjo. What food are you feeding her right now? Jinjo has to be on a special diet or else he has the monster runs, or throws up. Now, don't skip on that Vet trip, but I would say to try a limited ingredient diet for a while to see if she does any better. Also watch what treats you buy at the store! Most treats made for dogs are junky, please read the box first.
And you could also enforce the same rule at your house as is in mine: You feed it to em, YOU clean IT up!. And also, not to make you worry, but Jinjo will also throw up a clear liquid foam too in the summer on days above 85F, and its believe to be related to his heart problem. So again, don't skip out on the Vet. |

i would say vet as others have suggested...
Normall if it had only been once or twice i wouldve said just an upset stomach....give her bland food plenty of water etc. but since its a day to day thing...take her to the vet. she could have a stomach bug or something mroe serious. good luck keep us posted on how she does. |

Thanks everyone for responding. Mrs. Weenie has been doing a lot better since yeterday. Her poo is back to normal and no more throwing up. She must have had a doggy stomache virus. Her energy is through the roof tooand her small appetite is now huge. I have no idea what caused the episode but it's gone now. Thanks everyone again ^_^

dogs eat grass to vomit, it cleans their stomach out. My dogs do it daily as well, it's not a danger. I would still suggest a vet check for her incase there's any other problem. After all, you only just got her.
Oh-And welcome, BTW!! |
